Gender Socialization Essay Example for Free
Gender Socialization Essay Every child is born to a particular society which has its set of values, norms and belief system. The first stage of socialization of the child is the family to which he/she is born. As the child grows, he/she is introduced to the way life is lived and the role he or she is to play in the family and the society. When a child is born, the first question that anybody asks is ââ¬Ëis it a boy or a girl? â⬠. This is the beginning of gender socialization. From that point, the clothes the child wears, the kind of treatment that is given to the child and the things that are expected of the child becomes distinguished. UNICEF defined gender socialization as ââ¬Å"a process of learning cultural roles according to ones sex, and provides examples of ways in which these are incorporated through parental and societal expectations from boys and girlsâ⬠( VAWnet, 2004). Taking a queue from my life experience and from my knowledge of socialization, I will say that the traits I see myself exhibiting are rubbed off on me as a result of my family socialization. At a very tender age, I grew to recognize my role in the family and how to relate with the elderly. My father taught me how to be a man and how to live the life of integrity and boldness, which he considered a necessity of any man. Furthermore, I grew up with an idea that some jobs were for ladies while some were for men. I was taught that men are strong and do not cave in to their emotions. I was taught how to be a fearless, courageous and decent young man and how it is my responsibility to look out for my family. Although I do not stay with my father and mother again, I still see some attributes of my father in me and sometimes when I do something, I smile and attribute that thing to what I learnt when I was growing up. Summarily, I believe no matter how hard we try not to draw a line between both sexes, the fact is we all have our roles in the society. Essay --
I have a great interest on how to help young children with challenging behaviors. I have work in the preschool field for the last 14 years and I have noticed a growth of children with challenging behaviors. Although I get support from the behavior specialist in the program, finding more information in this area will give me more skills and knowledge. I will feel more competent to serve the children and be efficient in the social emotional area. The questions that I created are questions that I want to research and educate myself to better serve the children who are having difficulties in this area. One of the ethical responsibilities to children mention on the NAEYC ideals I-1.4 say, ââ¬Å"To appreciate the vulnerability of children and their dependence on adults.â⬠Children of young age in our programs required that we give them the necessary skills to become competent in all areas of development including the social emotional. What is my topic? Challenging behaviors in young children Why am I interested in this topic? In recent years working with preschool age students I noticed a hig...

Disciples Are Created
ââ¬Å"So God created man in his image. â⬠Man was given dominion over all creation and paradise for his sustenance and enjoyment. But to whom much is given, much is likewise asked. The forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge proved to be too difficult for Man to resist. That cost Man the loss of his paradise and banishment from heaven, in complete shame. He had truly fallen. God sent his Only Son to redeem Man. Jesus walked the earth and preached about God. From fishermen to a tax collector, Jesus created his own, chosen set of disciples. He said, ââ¬Å"I did not come to call the righteous but sinners. â⬠He had instructed them to continue His work when He has gone back to the Father. ââ¬Å"Go, therefore, and make disciples from all nations. â⬠Jesus died on the cross for Man. Man had sinned but Jesus led Man back to the Father. He had set the example for Man to follow. True discipleship is following Godââ¬â¢s example of never giving up on Manââ¬â¢s fallibil ity. It is helping Man to rise from iniquity and taking the righteous path. His followers had betrayed Him like Judas and denied Him like Peter, yet He had it in His heart to forgive. He proclaimed, ââ¬Å"Truly, I say to you, every sin will be forgiven humankind â⬠¦Ã¢â¬ Whatever oneââ¬â¢s status in life is, he may be made into a disciple. Simon Peter and Andrew were fishermen and Matthew was a tax collector. A disciple made from Godââ¬â¢s own image follows His example. God forgave sin against Him. So must the disciple. The positive influence of Godââ¬â¢s example to my personal ministry is to accept sinners and give them the second chances they need.

What Would Two Political Philosophers Essay - 1656 Words
In the weeks following the 2016 United States Presidential election, much of the joy and outrage surrounding President elect Donald Trump has subsided. People of varying ages, races and socioeconomic classes have expressed in some form or another some sort of emotion regarding the status of the United States and where it will be in 2020. What would two political philosophers from history say? The best way to find out how Niccolà ³ Machiavelli and Jean Jean-Jacques Rousseau would feel about the president elect would be to compare Donald Trump to their respective ideals, the prince and the general will. Machiavelli would certainly have mixed feelings regarding Donald Trump. His prince is supposed to do whatever it takes to gain power and maintain it. Though Trump has gained and will retain power, barring any impeachable offenses, for the next four years, he has not done it in a way Machiavelli would approve of. Machiavelli emphasizes the importance of the prince to not be hated in cha pter nineteen when he says ââ¬Å"the prince should think about avoiding those things which make him hated and despised; and when he has avoided this, he will have carried out his duties and will find no danger whatsoever in all other vicesâ⬠(136). Though the vices he mentions are in reference to the other facets of being a successful leader, Donald Trump has literally found himself in physical danger as a result of his inability to refrain from being hated. At a rally in Nevada in November, forShow MoreRelatedComing Back to Platos Cave1125 Words à |à 5 Pageshow the philosopher, as the only person who exits the cave in the allegory, is required to re enter the cave after having exited and come into direct contact with true reality.
